TERENGGANU, a coastal state overlooking the South China Sea, is famed for its 244 km stretch of unpolluted and panoramic beaches.  As a beach person, I’m personally moved by its tranquil emerald islands where its waters turn golden hues at sunrise.

Terengganu is where people come to experience the authentic way of life in the East Coast of Malaysia. It is also the only wetland in Malaysia with 9 interconnected ecosystems: the sea, beach, mudflat, lagoon, estuary, river, islands, coastal forest, and mangrove forest.  It was where I first found that squid jigging and mussel picking activities would be so much fun. But most of all, this ‘Postcards from Terengganu’ post is intended to make you all see the natural & exotic charm of the state.

Terengganu, beautiful state, beautiful culture.

A picturesque sunrise of Redang Island. I want to live here for as long as I could!
Terengganu-Rhu-Sepuluh-beach
Nice & clean beach of Rhu Sepuluh. So calm & peaceful I felt like sleeping for a hundred years.
Terengganu-Kenyir-Lake
Water sport at Tasik Kenyir, Hulu Terengganu. We also spent half the day at Kenyir Water Pak.
Terengganu-Pasar-Payang-lychee
A sweetest treat at Payang Central Market, Kuala Terengganu. Lychee! Fresh not canned. My mouth’s watering now.
Terengganu-Redang-Island-water
Crystal clear water of Pinang Island. Too bad I left my spare clothes inland. So… can I go skinny dipping instead?
Terengganu-State-Museum
Terengganu State Museum, the largest of its kind in Malaysia. We arrived at the time when The Human’s Organ Exhibition was held. It was way cool!
Terengganu-Lor-Warisan-Dunia-Chinatown
The wall of Lorong Warisan Dunia, one of the most beautiful alleys of Chinatown, Kuala Terengganu. So creative & colorful.
Terengganu-Setiu-River
Coconut trees along the river bank of Setiu. Do you know that local people here used to bury newly born baby’s placenta along with the coconut shoots?
Terengganu-South-China-Sea-sunset
Magnificent sunset at the South China Sea during our squid jigging contest. I was left speechless with my mouth open.
Terengganu-Duyong-Marina-sunrise
Sunrise to die for at Duyong Marina & Resort. This pic was taken on the last day before we left Terengganu early in the morning. So wanting to go back there now.

Wow, impressive panorama, Mas!
